The European Union fines Intel again, and the legal dispute between the two parties that has lasted for more than ten years has once again caused waves.

On September 22, the European Commission announced that it would once again impose a fine of approximately 376.36 million euros (approximately 2.92 billion yuan) on Intel Corporation for its previous abuse of dominance in the computer chip market called x86 central processors. Intel's series of actions are aimed at excluding competitors from relevant markets. These anti-competitive actions violate EU antitrust rules.

This is not the first time Intel has been punished by the EU for alleged anti-competitive behavior. As early as 2009, European regulators imposed an antitrust fine of 1.06 billion euros ($1.2 billion) on Intel for allegedly squeezing out rival AMD. Intel subsequently successfully overturned the verdict during a 13-year appeal process. In January last year, the EU Court of Justice dismissed a 2009 antitrust fine of 1.06 billion euros ($1.2 billion) imposed on Intel by European regulators.

Intel's lawsuit against the European Commission has not stopped. According to a report by CCTV News in June last year, a document released by the European Union on June 20 showed that Intel filed a lawsuit with the European Court of Justice over a penalty that the EU had only revoked after 13 years, asking the European Commission to compensate it for 593 million in interest losses. euros (approximately $624 million).

This incident seems to have come full circle. Intel was once again fined by the European Commission, and the legal dispute between the two parties once again attracted widespread public attention. Although Intel has prevailed in previous lawsuits, things may be different this time. Whether it is Intel or the European Commission, both parties need to be fully prepared to face this legal battle that may last for many years.
