On April 18th, it was announced that processor giant AMD is expected to launch the next generation Zen 5 processor microarchitecture in 2024. In the first quarter of this year, it officially launched the development of a new Zen 6 processor (CPU) core architecture. According to job vacancies released on LinkedIn, the Zen 6 will adopt TSMC's 2 nanometer process, and the CPU launch schedule is expected to be after 2026.
However, at present, we cannot find the presence of Zen 6 in AMD's official product blueprint. AMD only revealed the Zen 5 plan, and the previous blue chart can be traced back to June 2022, indicating that AMD expects to launch Zen 5 in 2024. Therefore, Zen 6 may not enter the retail market until 2025 or even later. According to information accidentally disclosed by AMD's high-end chip design engineer Md Zaheer on LinkedIn, the internal code of the AMD Zen 6 core is Morpheus, and the Zen 6 chip will use a 2nm process. TSMC and Samsung both hope to prepare a 2nm process by 2025. The specific task that this engineer is responsible for is the power management project for at least three core IPs, starting with the Zen 4 core in the first quarter of 2020, followed by the Zen 5 in the first quarter of 2021, and then the Zen 6 in the first quarter of 2023.
