Samsung Electronics Launches High-Performance SSD 990 PRO Series 4TB Version

Samsung Electronics announced on September 6, 2023 the launch of a new 4TB version of the 990 PRO series of solid-state drives. The product is expected to officially enter the Chinese market in October. The 990 PRO series is a high-performance PCle 4.0 SSD series, which uses Samsung's 8th generation V-NAND technology and self-developed controller.

According to the introduction, the 990 PRO 4TB uses Samsung's 8th generation V-NAND technology and an improved self-developed controller, making its performance close to the theoretical upper limit of PCle 4.0. It has sequential read speeds of up to 7450 MB/s and write speeds of up to 6900 MB/s. In addition, the new 4TB version also improves random read and write speeds, up to 1600K and 1550K IOPS respectively.

The 990 PRO series has powerful speed and excellent performance, and is optimized for large amounts of data such as 3D/4K graphics processing, data analysis and high-quality games, and is suitable for today's mainstream PCs, notebooks, game consoles and computing systems. In addition, the 990 PRO SSD is also reliable and durable, with a total bytes written (TBW) of up to 2400, which is very suitable for users with high workload requirements and large storage capacity requirements.

It is understood that the 1TB and 2TB versions of the Samsung 990 PRO series are already on the market, while the 4TB versions of the 990 PRO and 990 PRO (heat sink version) will be officially launched in China in October 2023. This new solid-state drive will provide users with greater storage capacity and superior performance to meet their needs for high-capacity, high-performance storage solutions.
