Microsoft Updates Processor List, Windows 11 Adds Support for a Wide Range of Chips

Microsoft has updated the list of processors supported by Windows 11, covering a range of new products from Intel, AMD, and Qualcomm. This news was announced on June 20th. Microsoft recently released the third feature update for Windows 11 22H2, codenamed Moment 3, with version number 22621.1778. This update primarily focuses on users who meet the system requirements and provides some new features and improvements. Additionally, Microsoft quietly updated the list of supported processors.

TopChip Electronic noted that the last time Microsoft updated the processor list was in October last year when Windows 11 21H2 feature update was launched. Although there haven't been significant changes in system requirements from 21H2 to 22H2, it is not possible for unsupported hardware to suddenly appear in the supported list.

Among the newly added Intel processors is the 6GHz Core i9-13900KS. Additionally, other Intel Alder Lake mobile processors such as i5-1334U, 1335U, 1335UE, and 13500HS have been included in the supported list. On the AMD side, the additions are more interesting, introducing chips with 3D V-cache technology, including the 5800X3D based on the AM4 platform, as well as the 7950X3D, 7900X3D, and 7800X3D based on the AM5 platform. Other AM4 chips include Ryzen 3 4100, Ryzen 5 4500, 5500, and 5600. For the AM5 platform, non-X versions of Ryzen 7 7700 and Ryzen 5 7600 have been included. In the mobile segment, the newly added processors include Ryzen 5 5625U and 5625C (for Chromebooks), as well as Ryzen 3 5425U, and many AMD 7000U series processors have also been included in the supported list, including 7530U, 7440U, and more. Finally, in terms of Qualcomm processors, the additions include Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 and Microsoft SQ3 models.
